The Beverly Booth, a DSLR photo booth with a studio light on a stand

The footprint for each booth

The Beverly Booth needs roughly 8 by 8 feet. That accounts for the camera and studio light on their stands, the backdrop behind your guests and enough depth for a group to stand without pressing against the fabric. It is an open-air setup, so there are no walls to squeeze in.

The Selfie Booth is more compact at about 6 by 6 feet. The iPad stand takes very little room, and most of the footprint is simply the backdrop and the spot where guests pose. It fits comfortably in a corner, a hallway or a patio nook.

  • Beverly Booth: about 8 x 8 ft plus a power outlet
  • Selfie Booth: about 6 x 6 ft plus a power outlet
  • Both are open-air, so no doors or enclosure to allow for

Power and ceiling height

Both booths need one standard power outlet within reach. We bring an extension and tape it down, but a socket on the same wall avoids running cable across a walkway. Outdoor setups need a weatherproof outlet or a run from inside.

Ceiling height is rarely a problem indoors. The backdrop stand and the studio light both sit comfortably under a standard room ceiling, and we can lower the backdrop for a low basement or tent. Tell us if the room is unusually low and we will plan for it.

Room for the queue

The footprint above is the booth itself. A busy booth also gathers a small crowd, so leave a few feet in front for the line and for people watching the screen. At a wedding this is where half the fun happens, as guests pick props and plan their pose.

If the floor plan is tight, a wall position with the line running along the wall works better than a central spot where the queue spills into traffic.

Where to put it

The best place is somewhere guests already pass through. Near the bar is a classic choice because people drift there all night. The edge of the dance floor also works, since dancers step off in groups and are already in a playful mood. Avoid a far room or a quiet hallway nobody walks down.

Keep the booth out of the direct line of the DJ speakers if you can. Our attendant needs to talk guests through the pose, and the prop table is easier to browse when conversation is possible.

Outdoors and tents

Both booths work outdoors on a flat, dry surface with power nearby. We prefer shade or an evening start for the Beverly, because the studio light does its best work when it is not competing with direct sun. A tented reception is ideal.

Wind is the main thing to plan around, since the backdrop acts like a sail. A sheltered corner of a garden or patio is better than an open lawn. If the forecast turns, we can move inside at the venue's direction.

Setup and breakdown time

We arrive early enough to be ready before guests reach the booth, and setup and breakdown are included in every package. If the venue needs the booth placed before a ceremony in the same room, let us know, and we will set up quietly and switch on at the time you have booked.

Questions, answered

Good to Know

Can the booth go upstairs or in a venue without a lift?

Yes. Both booths break down into cases that our attendant carries. A heads-up about stairs or long corridors helps us time the setup.

Does the backdrop need a wall behind it?

No. The backdrop stands on its own frame. A wall behind it simply hides the stand and keeps people from walking through the shot.

What if my venue only has a 5 by 5 foot spot?

The Selfie Booth can usually be adapted to a tighter corner. Send us a photo of the spot and we will tell you honestly whether it works.
